Inspiration from a 12 year old

Inspiration from a 12 year old girl who’s fearless and a lesson in courage and resilience. She wrote this poem:

Cancer Doesn’t Frighten Me At All, by Callie Herschfield

At the Hospital I stay,
Too sick and sad to play.
Cancer doesn’t frighten me at all.
Doctors in at night,
Don’t give me a fright.
Cancer doesn’t frighten me at all.

Nurses take my blood pressure,
They all check my temperature.
That doesn’t frighten me at all.
Rubber gloves and masks,
Do I have something to ask?
No, cancer doesn’t frighten me at all.

I have to take pills,
If I don’t I’ll get ill.
No matter how much I try,
I’ll still just cry.
Different shots,
I’ll get a lot.
Stuck in the room,
Chemo makes cancer go boom.
Cancer doesn’t frighten me at all.

They draw my blood
It comes out like a flood.
Cancer doesn’t frighten me at all.
Feeling sick
Cancer is ick
Cancer doesn’t frighten me at all.

MRIs on my brain
Some things give me pain.
So much medicine
My veins they will go in.
Cancer doesn’t frighten me at all.

People send me prayers,
And gifts and presents.
Love is in the air
Cards for me were sent.

I might get fevers,
Or maybe a cold.
Bacteria and infections,
This is really getting old.

Cancer doesn’t frighten me at all.
Not at all.
Not at all.
Cancer doesn’t frighten me at all.
